Support Grids
Support grids are installed inside packed columns to support structured or random packing while allowing vapour and liquid to flow through the column. They provide the mechanical strength needed to carry the packing bed while helping maintain open flow area and low pressure drop.
- Supports structured or random packing.
- High open area, greater than 90%, to reduce flow restriction.
- Minimised pressure drop for efficient operation.
- Strong, supporting several tonnes.
- Lightweight and corrosion-resistant construction.
- Suitable for high-temperature applications.
- Easy installation, even through manway nozzles.
Support grids are widely used in packed columns serving chemical processing, petrochemical production, fine chemicals, fertilisers, food processing and environmental treatment duties. They are suitable for distillation, absorption, stripping, scrubbing and other gas-liquid contact operations, including corrosive or high-temperature chemical applications where strong packing support and low-pressure drop are critical.
Manufactured from carbon fibre reinforced materials, our support grids can be designed to carry significant loads while remaining easier to handle and install than heavier alternatives.
