PFA lined Wafer Style Sampling Valve – SD IL 400

This liquid chemical sampler is most commonly supplied with a double action spring return handle which closes the valve automatically as soon as it’s released. Operation is very easy and the operator can quickly obtain a sample of product as it flows through the sampling valve. There are no product entrapment areas and so there is no need to pre-run any liquor through the valve beforehand, the operator for example just screws the bottle in place and operates the handle dispensing just the volume of sample they require whilst viewing the sample bottle filling, saving wastage and cost.

When the valve is operated by pulling the handle out and down, the spindle is lifted from its seat and allows the liquid flowing through the valve to flow into the sample bottle. The valve spindle travel is adjustable in commissioning so that the sample bottle fills in a controlled manner regardless of the pressure or viscosity of the process.

The inline sampler can also be remotely operated with a pneumatic actuator replacing the handle assembly, ideal for where operators have limited access or to combine with the plants distributed control system.

The SD-IL-400 sampler is a wafer pattern valve with all nominal bore sizes 60mm face to face, it can be supplied to suit horizontal or vertical pipelines between ASME or DIN flanges. The sample is normally dispensed into a sample bottle, in which case we machine the threads of the sample bottle connector to match the customers site standard of bottles. The sample bottle connector has a vent  to prevent the bottle becoming pressurised and allow fumes to exit away from the operator. The sample valve can also be supplied with a septum assembly to suit septa capped bottles. This method provides a greater level of containment for the sample providing enhanced safety for the operator. The sample is dispensed through needles that pierce through a PTFE coated silicone rubber disc mounted to the bottle, upon dismount of the bottle the rubber reseals the holes containing the liquid and fumes.

The sample valve has a maximum temperature range of 180°C at 10 barg. If samples are to be taken at elevated temperatures, we can supplier sample coolers which are mini heat exchangers using external cooling water to cool the sample before being dispensed to protect the operator.

We would recommend that the bottle adaptor is contained within a safety cabinet to protect the bottle and operator. We offer a 3mm thick 316 stainless steel cabinet as standard, with a laminated glass door which can contain up to a 500ml sample bottle.
