Case Study - PTFE lined NACE MR0175 Piping

The Product/Service
PTFE lined piping for Sour Service
Customer
Kazakhstan oil field
The problem
Corrosion resistant piping was required to convey sulphuric acid, However all piping had to conform to NACE MR0175 to prevent sulphide stress cracking. The temperatures in Kazakhstan can plummet to below -40 degrees. Standard piping materials were unsuitable.
The Solution
CRP supplied PTFE lined piping with steelwork manufactured from low temperature rated carbon steel. By supplying the PTFE lined piping with the steelwork manufactured from ASTM A333, A350 LF2 and A420WPL6 we were able to meet all on site sour service specifications and supplied accompanying NACE MR0175 endorsed material certificates. The cost of PTFE lined low temperature carbon steel piping was significantly lower than the Hastelloy C276 which the customer was looking at as an alternative.
