End User
Saudi Arabian Petro-chemicals Manufacturer
Project Scope
A package of lined equipment required for the manufacture of a new plant. 255 virgin PTFE lined pipe spools to 12in nominal bore, 330 fittings, 101 spacers, 125 valves, 2191 flange shields and other miscellaneous equipment.
The Problem
The engineering team of the UK design contractor was not familiar with the idiosyncrasies of PTFE and PFA lined equipment, but were required to deliver a significant package of materials for installation in Saudi Arabia. The lined equipment although significant represented a small proportion of the total installation and the site installation team were also unfamiliar with lined equipment.
The Solution
It was decided that CRP would manage the project by isometric drawing. This was used as the unit of purchase, manufacture and supply for the complete project. Where it was possible, products were packed by isometric drawing. In any case all items were identified with their isometric reference. This facilitated change management whilst the project was live, isometric drawing changes being managed simply through the manufacturing process. It also enabled the unpacking, inspection, checking and erection of the equipment to be undertaken speedily, even with people unfamiliar with lined equipment.
