Bromine Piping System Introduced
Bromine is a highly corrosive chemical, making fluoropolymer lined piping ideal for conveying it. PVDF has always being the fluoropolymer of choice either as unsupported tube or as part of a lined carbon steel system. However PVDF material suffers from embrittlement which can ultimately lead to stress fractures in the
pipe.
CRP has developed super-weight paste extruded PTFE liners offering increased permeation resistance for bromine applications. These are supplied in conjunction with PFA lined fittings, these being excellent for use with bromine due the improved permeation properties of PFA and their heavy wall linings. The pipe spools are supplied with carbon steel vent bosses fitted with PTFE plugs to vent any gas preventing any build up behind the steel pipe. For further information please click here.
